2024 Interior Design Trends

We are rounding up 5 interior design trends we are excited about in 2024 and highlighting work we've done or are currently building that aligns with each one.  Be sure to check out #5, it is never going out of style 😉  Let us know which one you are most excited about!

1.  Bold Color

We love an unexpected color choice and have used it many times over the last few years or placed our furniture in a room bathed in color- both in residential and commercial spaces.  Our partners are always ahead of the trends, it's fun to be included in these projects.  Even House Beautiful agrees that Bold Colors are here to stay "we are seeing stronger staying power in simple shapes in unique hues."

2.  Customized Secondary Spaces

Many of our residential projects have been customizing spaces in the home, like home bars, gyms and custom mudroom cabinetry.  Making your space work for you and your family will always be in style.  "We entertain a lot and with our dining room far removed from the kitchen if made sense to make a bar on the way," our client Annie shares.  We love building these custom elements that make your home more personal and functional.

3.  Chrome

Count us in!  In fact, later this winter we will be involved in a tattoo boutique that is leaning heavily into Chrome and other metals. "Because the brand is female-founded and female-designed, we wanted to bring lightness and inclusivity to the tattoo experience. What has so often been masculine, dark, and exclusive now becomes forward-thinking, welcoming, and earthy. We’ve labeled the aesthetic 'future earth', which I think sounds exciting in and of itself," shares the design team from DoubleKnot.  Check out a peek at the moodboard on the project and stay tuned to see the finished space in a few months.

Pinterest agrees!  The Pinterest Predicts 2024 list included "Hot Metals" as a trend to expect this year.chrome

4.  Gallery inspired spaces

Unique, inspired spaces highlighting art or the simplicity of carefully and thoughtfully chosen items.  Gallery inspired spaces show off your personality and point of view- a subtle and powerful communication of your style.  Whether you like it light and bright our dark and moody.

5.  Reducing waste + Supporting local

A trend that will never go out of style is supporting local artists, makers and people dedicated to making quality products. Created with quality in mind, built to last generations and to be treasured forever.  We love so many local artists, but want to highlight 3 local to Ohio.

OnConcrete

The couple behind OnConcrete make concrete tops, tables and so much more.  We obviously have a soft spot for a husband and wife duo, but that's not the only reason we love their work.

Laura Naples has long been a favorite of ours.  We interviewed her for our "Creatives We Love" blog series a few years ago and continue to be inspired by her work.

We love what Andrea Whalen says about her textile work at Virgina Kraft, "I strive to make beautiful objects that help you tell the story of your own space, while remembering that it's the people that make it home."  We could not agree more!
